About Usher

Usher Raymond IV was born on 14 October 1978 in Dallas Texas. He is the son of Jonetta Patton and Usher Raymond.

He spent most of his childhood in Chattanooga with his mother. His father left Usher’s mother when he was one year old. After a couple of years his mother remarried and in 1984 Usher’s step brother was born. Following his mother’s guidance, Usher entered the local church’s choir when he was nine. This is where his mother and grandmother discovered his talent for singing.

The family decided to move to a bigger city, a city which would offer a much greater possibility for Usher’s talent. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia. This is the time when Usher began to develop from a musical point of view.

At age 11, Usher joined the NuBeginnings, a local R&B quintet with which he recorded his first songs in 1991. The album was available on a local basis. After this his mother decided that Usher should leave the band as she considered it to be “a bad experience”.

When he was 13, Usher competed on Star Search, where he was spotted by a representative of LaFace Records. He auditioned for L.A. Reid, the cofounder of the record label who agreed to sign Usher to the Record Company. Usher mother resigned her job and became his manager.

His first self entitle song was released in 1993 and his first album in 1994. After this his musical carrier began to develop.

In May 2007 he broke up his manager relations with his mother and began to discover a new sound.
