About The Saturdays
The Saturdays are a six-piece girl group signed to Polydor Records sub-label Fascination Records. They formed in London in 2007. The band members are Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Rochelle Wiseman and Vanessa White, and their music features contributions from a number of producers, including Ina Wroldsen and Alex Cartana. The Saturdays saw their first exposure to UK audiences supporting Girls Aloud on their Tangled Up tour of May 2008, and also supported the Jonas Brothers, as well as appearing on numerous television programs, most notably Channel Four's Hollyoaks.
The Saturdays' debut album, 'Chasing Lights', was released a year later, and contained four songs which were to become top-10 singles in the UK chart. They also scored a fifth hit, the song 'Work' which achieved a chart placing of number 22.
They also toured extensively in 2009 on the back of this success, headlining their own 'Work Tour' in June. During this busy period they also managed to record a follow-up album, 'Wordshaker,' which was subsequently released on the 12th of October. This album achieved a top placing of number 9 on the UK albums chart, and also spawned the hit single 'Forever Is Over.'
Other notable musical achievements for the group include their version of Depeche Mode's 'I Just Can't Get Enough,' which was chosen as one of the official Comic Relief singles of 2009.
Most recently, the band have appeared in a number of adverts, and released 'Ego,' a further single from 'Wordshaker', on the 17th November. The band continue to enjoy a high level of coverage in the UK press.
