About The Hoosiers
The Hoosiers are a famous pop and rock band. The members of this band are Irwin Sparkes as lead vocalist and lead guitarist, Martin Skarendahl on bass guitar and rhythm guitar and Alphonso Sharland on drums and percussion. The original group also had two members Tony Byrne and Tom Easey including Sparkes and Sharland. When these two left, Skarendahl was included in the group, who is originally from Stockholm. The trio Sparkes, Skarendahl and Sharland subsequently revamped the band and focused their music more on young boys and girls and their love lives.
Sharland had attended Waingels College and was a vivid music lover. The band endeavored to create a new genre of music which they named "Odd pop". In this new genre of music, they tried to combine several different musical genres. The uniqueness of their music was clearly witnessed when they released their first album.
The Hoosiers released their first single titled "Worried About Ray" in July 2007, which reached at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album entitled The Trick to Life was released in October 2007. This album reached number 1 in the UK album charts. The band released their next top-ten album entitled The Illusion of Safety on 16 August 2010. In this album, they tried to reinvent their music with more electro influences and establishing themselves as a rather conventional pop band.
They gathered huge popularity because of their experimentation but some critics attacked them for their off and on track musical instincts. Perhaps this is the reason, they were declared as Worst Band at the annual NME awards in 2008.
