About Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole Scherzinger is the stage name of singer, songwriter, dancer, record producer, model and actress Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente, who was born on the 29th of June 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She has a mixed heritage of Filipino with Hawaiian and Russian, her father, Alfonso Valiente being Filipino and her mother Rosemary being a mix of Hawaiian and Russian. Her parents separated when she was still small and when she was six, she moved with her family (her mother, her half sister Ke ‘ala and her stepfather Gary Scherzinger a German American) to Louisville, Kentucky.
She attended Meyzeek Middle School during her teen years. She followed the Young Performing Arts School at DuPont Manual High School and she gained interest in acting and singing by performing with Actors Theater of Louisville.
Nicole Majored in acting and musical theater at Wright State University, but put her studies on hold in 1999, when she accepted to be the backing vocals for the rock band Days of the New.
In 2001 Nicole obtained her breakthrough in the entertainment industry with the premiere season of the television show Popstars, which aired on THE WB, where she was a member of the all-girl pop group Eden’s Crush. During the year she became one of the leading vocalists. The first single of the group, Get Over Yourself (Goodbye), reached number one on the Billboard chart.
The band had great success, but later got broken apart. In May 2003 Nicole became part of the Pussycat Dolls. Her collaboration with the band brought Nicole in the spotlight and so she began to record a series of duets or guest vocals with a series of influential artists in the industry.
From 2006 to 2009, Nicole followed work on her debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole. She wrote and recorded up to 100 songs for the album, which was supposed to be released in 2007, but got pushed up to a later date. On the 24th July 2007, the lead single of the album, Whatever U Like was launched, but did not attain much success. The second single, Baby Love, was better received, reaching top 15 in some countries such as the UK.
Doubts appeared about Nicole launching her solo album after the Pussycat Dolls released their new album, Doll Domination, but on the 18th of March 2011 she launched Killer Love under Interscope Music label. The lead single of the album, Poison, was released on the 14th of October 2010.
