About Lemar
Lemar, full name Lemar Obika, is a british R&B singer who was born on April 4 1978. He had his first taste of success in 2002, when he appeared on the British TV Show Fame Academy. In the contest within the show, he only achieved third place, but he has gone on to considerable chart success.
His first album, 'Dedicated' was released in 2003, and singles from it, 'Dance (with U),' '50-50' and 'Another Day' have all achieved top 40 success, most notably a number two placing for 'Dance (with U).' On the back of this success, Lemar won a Brit Award for 'Best Urban Act' in 2004, and embarked upon his first UK headline tour.
His success continued with a second 'Best Urban Act' award in 2006, and a return to the charts with his sixth top ten hit, 'It's Not That Easy,' which was the lead-off single for his second album, 'The Truth About Love.' This album reached the number three spot in the UK albums chart.
A short hiatus ensued until Lemar's next release, the album 'The Reason' came out on 24 November 2008. the first single from this was 'If She Knew' was released two weeks prior, and achieved a top placing of number 14 in the UK singles chart.
In May of 2009 he was reported to have amassed a personal fortune of £4 million.
His Greatest Hits album 'The Hits' was released in early 2010, and a fifth studio album is scheduled for next year.
