About Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York City on 28 March, 1986. She cites her biggest influences as Madonna, and Michael Jackson, but also takes influence from glam rock artists, such as David Bowie and Queen (Lady Gaga was culled from Queen's 1984 song "Radio Gaga"). She learned how to play piano by ear at age 4, and was writing songs well into her teens.
She started performing in the New York City rock scene, and signed with Streamline Records, an imprint of Interscope, in 2007. She released her debut album, The Fame, in August of 2008, which spawned the hit singles "Poker Face," "Just Dance," and "Paparazzi." She earned six Grammy nominations for The Fame, including Album of the Year, and managed to take two of them, for Best Electronic/Dance Album and Best Dance Recording. She released a follow-up album, The Fame Monster, in late 2009 and had another hit with "Bad Romance." To date she has sold 8 million albums worldwide, as well as 35 million singles.
