About Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber was born on March 1, 1994. He is a Canadian pop singer, whose meteoric rise to stardom began in 2008 when he was discovered by Scooter Braun (now his manager) through his Youtube videos. After a bidding war in which Justin Timberlake was rumoured to be one of the people attempting to sign him, Bieber signed with Island Records, and his debut album 'My World' was released in the USA on the 17th of November 2009. By this point, Bieber had already released four singles; 'One Time,' 'One Less Lonely Girl,' 'Love Me' and 'Favourite Girl.' This was a record for the young artist- no other artist in musical history has had four top 40 hits in the Billboard Chart before their first album was released.
The album itself was a double-album, and sold 137,000 copies in its first week of release. This was enough to make it the second-best opening release for any new artist in 2009. He also opened at the Number 1 spot in his native Canada. In his home country, the album went gold in a week, and Platinum before a month had passed. This was soon followed by the achievement of the same status in the USA.
He also played live on a number of live TV Shows, such as The Today Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Good Morning America and The Wendy Williams Show. He also participated in the televised Christmas special 'Christmas in Washington,' performing for U.S. President Barack Obama.
His second album, 'My World 2.0' is currently due to be released in March 2010.
