About Jessie J
Jessie J is the stage name of singer and song writer Jessica Ellen Cornish, born on the 27th of March 1988 in Redbridge, London, England.
In her early years, Jessie went to the Mayfield High School and attended Colin’s Performance Arts School. She was quite talented from when she was a child and her signing capabilities came to be appreciated from an early age. At 11 years of age she received a part in Andrew Lloyd’s Webber’s West End production of Whistle Down the Wind.
Jessie was first sign in to Gut Record, but do to financial problems the company became bankrupt before Jessie could release any musical material.
Jessie first found success as a songwriter and was able to obtain a publishing contract with Sony ATV. Besides her songwriting carrier she also invested in her music carrier. She began to be recognized by the public and landed the opening act gig for Cyndi Lauper while she was touring UK in the 2008 tour, Bring Ya to the Brink.
Jessie began to be noticed in the songwriting industry with the pen lyrics of artists such as Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus.
In the early 2000 Jessie signed with Lava Records as a joint venture to Universal Republic.
Her debut album, Who Are You, was completed on the 19th of January 2010 after six years of work. The album was released on the 25th of February, one month ahead of its scheduled date because of high fan interest. The album reached number two in the UK Albums Chart and debuted at number 11 in the US.
The first single of the album, Do It Like a Dude was released towards the end of 2010 and was well received both by critics and the masses. It reached number two in the UK single charts.
Her second single, Price Tag, was released in late January 2011 and was the first single to reach the first position in the charts. The single was released in the US on the 1st of February and reached up to 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
