About Jedward

Jedward are identical twins John Paul Henry Daniel Richard Grimes and Edward Peter Anthony Kevin Patrick Grimes. They were born on 16 October 1991 in Rathangen in Ireland, and first came to prominence as performers in the sixth season of the ITV Television show 'The X Factor' in the autumn of 2009.

Their performances on 'The X-factor' have provoked a variety of reactions- their initial audition for the show saw them speaking in faux-American accents and singing a Backstreet Boys song in a slightly off-key fashion. Despite opposition from Simon Cowell, they were voted onto the show, and subsequently garnered a large amount of public support. Gordon Brown, the current UK Prime Minister, described them as 'Not very good' but David Cameron, the leader of the opposition Conservative Party has expressed his support for the group. Both political parties have since parodied Jedward in campaign posters and literature. They have also featured in tourist literature for Ireland with the tagline “We apologise' for the haircuts, those PVC suits and the talking bit in 'Oops, I did it Again.'”

To date, Jedward have released only one single 'Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby), a version of the Queen/David Bowie classic, on 31 January 2010. The single features a guest performance from US Rapper Vanilla Ice. Performing his rap from 'Ice Ice Baby'. This was released through Sony Music and was a No. 1 hit in their native Ireland. In the UK, the song reached the Number 2 spot.

Jedward are currently managed by Louis Walsh, their mentor on the X Factor, and are set to tour at a later date in 2010.
