About Fyfe Dangerfield
Fyfe Dangerfield (born 7 July, 1980, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England) is an indie songwriter best known for his work in the band Guillemots. Prior to forming the Guillemots in 2004, Dangerfield played in a series of other bands, such as Senseless Prayer and Fyfe Dangerfield and the Accident. He also briefly worked as a music teacher before his music career took off.
To date, the Guillemots have released three albums, including the 2011-released Walk the River, as well as a slew of singles and EPs. While in the Guillemots, he also began working on songs of his own, which led to the release of his solo debut album, Fly Yellow Moon in 2010. The album peaked at #12 on the UK Album Charts. His single, “When You Walk in the Room,” was given away for free on his website, and “She Needs Me” was the lead single off the album.
Currently, Fyfe Dangerfield is playing with the Guillemots, doing a few "secret" shows throughout England. The shows have been very well-received, and the band is feeling good about what they have achieved so far. On making their last album, Walk the River, Dangerfield says "It feels good - it feels like the end of the first phase of the band." Here's hoping the next phase of the Guillemots and Fyfe Dangerfield is as good as the first!
Recently, he composed music for Howl’s Moving Castle, a play based on a Diana Wynne Jones novel. It is set to be performed at the Southwark Playhouse in winter 2011-2012.
