About Eliza Doolittle

Eliza Doolittle was born Eliza Sophie Caird on 15 April, 1988 in Westminster, London. She is the daughter of director John Caird and singer Francis Ruffele. She is also the granddaughter of Sylvia Young, founder and principal of the Sylvia Young Theater School in London. She started her career as a childhood actress, starring in RSC adaptations of Les Miserables (1996) and The Secret Garden (2000).

Doolittle was signed to Parlophone Records in 2009, and released a self-titled four-track EP, which contained “Rollerblades,” “Police Car,” “Go Home,” and “Moneybox.” So far, many of the EP’s tracks have been remixed by The xx and Plastic Little, and received airplay in her native UK. She released her debut single “Skinny Genes” on 12 April, 2010, which samples a 1957 Andy Williams track “Butterflies.” She recorded a track for the AdULTHOOD soundtrack, entitled “Running For Life.“ Her next single, “Pack It Up” is set to be released on 21 June, 2010. Her self-titled debut will also be released in June 2010 on Parlophone Records, and she will be embarking on a summer tour supporting Jamie Cullum.
