About Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is the stage name of Edward “Ed” Sheeran, English singer and songwriter, born on the 17th of February 1991 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. When he was still little he moved to Framlingham, Suffolk.

Ed discovered his love for music at a very small age. He began learning guitar when he was quite small and he started to write songs while learning at the Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham. Some of his early memories which included music were of his trips to London with his family in which he was listening to Van Morrison.

Sheeran began recording his first material in 2005 and later released his first EP, The Orange Room. He followed to release two albums: “Ed Sheeran" in 2006 and “Want Some?” in 2007. The albums were self produced and did not reach mainstream.

In 2008 he moved to London and began to play gigs in different small pubs. He began to be accepted by the crowds and in 2009 he began to perform for bigger and bigger audiences. This is the period when he released yet another EP, You Need E’s , just before he began touring with Just Jack in 2010.

In 2010 he released his acclaimed EP, Loose Change, featuring the song The A Team, which will later become his debut single after his contract sign.

In April 2010 he left his management company and left for LA. He began playing different open mic nights. He was first spotted at “The Foxxhole” by Jamie Foxx, who invited to him to stay at his house and record.

In 2010 he followed with the release of two more EPs”: Ed Sheeran Live at the Bedford and Songs I Wrote With Amy.

This is the period in which his YouTube popularity began to rise substantially and he began to get more credit from different illustrious names in the domain.

On the 8th of January 2011 Sheeran released his final independent EP, No.5 Collaborations Project, which reached number 1 on iTunes without any actual promotion label. In the same month he signed with Atlantic Records.

His first label single, The A Team, was released on the 12th of June and was the highest chart debut single for 2011. He will release his album, entitled “+” on the 12th of September 2011.
