About Drake
Drake is a Canadian recording artist and actor, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham. Born 24 October, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Drake got his start in acting in 2001 on the hit Canadian TV show, Degrassi: The Next Generation, playing the character of Jimmy Brooks. He appeared in over 130 episodes up until 2009, when his character graduated from high school.
While in Degrassi, Drake also focused on a music career in addition to acting. He released his first mixtape in 2006 entitled Room for Improvement, in which he made available via his Myspace page. Two more mixtapes followed in 2007 and 2009, the latter, entitled So Far Gone, even getting radio play. It was eventually released as an official EP in 2009, going Gold and making Drake a star. It was during that time he worked with such artists as Alicia Keys, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne.
In May 2010, Drake released his first album, Thank Me Later on Cash Money Records. It debuted at #1 on the Billbaord 200, selling over 445,000 copies its first week. In September 2010, he embarked on his first tour, entitled the "Lights Dreams and Nightmares Tour." He also began work on a second album, tentatively titled Take Care, and it is expected to be released in the fall of 2011. In the meantime, he is still riding on the success of Thank Me Later, and continues to write songs for other artists such as Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx.
