About Diana Vickers
Diana Vickers was born on the 30th of July 1991 in Blackburn, Lancashire England. She spent her early childhood in Huncoat near Accrington.
She entered the music world when she auditioned in 2008 for the fifth series of The X Factor. In audition she sang the Blower’s Daughter by Damien Rice. She then was selected for the live show and was mentored by Cheryl Cole along with the competitors Alexandra Burke and Laura White. Even though she was the favorite to win from the second to the seventh live performance, she was eliminated in the ninth week, the semi finals, achieving the fourth place.
After the X Factor, Vickers signed with Sony Music’s RCA Records and she released her debut album in January 2009, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree. In the development of the album she collaborated with such names as: Cathy Dennis, Nerina Pallot, Patrick Wolf or Savan Kotecha.
The first single of her debut album, Once, was released on the 19 April 2010 in the UK. The single entered the charts on 25 April and sold approximately 70000 copies in the first weekend.
On the 3rd of June 2010 Vickers has announced that she will start work on a new album. The album is said to have rock and indie influences. Because of the new, less commercial approach to music, on the 30th of June 2011 Vickers has left the RCA Records due to creational management differences.
Besides being a singer, Vickers has also approached an acting career. She has made her debut in the main role in the West End production of Jim Cartwright’s The Rise And Fall of Little Voice on the 8th of October 2009 at the Vaudeville Theatre, London. Her performance received impressive reviews from the Guardian.
