About Cheryl Cole
Born Cheryl Ann Tweedy in 1983, and now better known to all her fans as Cheryl Cole, this singer is a veritable jack of all trades and can lay claim to not only being a talented singer, but also a talented dancer, songwriter, author, and even a fashion designer. She is married to England (and Chelsea) football player Ashley Cole, and has become something of a fashion icon.
Over the years since her debut in 2002 on the UK program “Pop Stars: The Rivals”, Cheryl has continued to make a mark for herself. Joined through the TV program with four other girls to form the girl group “Girls Aloud”, Cheryl and her reality TV group mates have swung to unprecedented success to become one of the few such groups to achieve this distinction.
However, it was not until June of 2008 that Cole really hit the mainstream and became a regular in the hearts and minds of the people. Agreeing to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge in the fifth season of The X Factor was probably one of the best decisions Cheryl has ever made. It was her protégé who was crowned winner for that season. Subsequently, in the following season as well, Cheryl’s protégé managed to become the winner.
Cheryl has also collaborated with the artist will.i.am over the years. And although Girls Aloud is still going strong, Cheryl jump started her solo career in 2009 with “3 Words” her debut album. She also contributed to the autobiography of Girls Aloud - “Dreams that Glitter – Our Story”; and has since signed on with famed publishing house HarperCollins to write five romantic novels. All in all, Cheryl Cole is a talented force to be reckoned with, and it would be surprising indeed if she didn’t continue her run of success.
