About Carpenters
At a time when loud and wild rock and roll music was the rage, a brother-sister act caught the attention of the musical world. This duo is known to their many fans by the name of Carpenters; Richard and Karen Carpenter. The signature alto sounds which could be heard in Karen’s voice helped to give her songs more depth and dimension.

Their singing career came to an end in 1983 when Karen Carpenter died from cardiac arrest due to complications arising from anorexia nervosa. Despite this abrupt ending there are many singers today who cite the Carpenters as being one of the influences to their careers in the music industry.
