About Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars is the stage name of American singer, songwriter and record producer Peter Gene Hernandez, born on the 8th of October 1985 in the Waikiki neighborhood, Hawaii.
Bruno was born and raised in a family of musicians. His parents met while performing on stage. His mother was a hula dancer and his father a percussionist. At the age of two Peter Gene Hernandez received his nickname, Bruno, because of his somewhat resemblance of corpulent wrestler Bruno Sammartino.
Because of his grand musical family, Bruno was exposed to different genres of music such as: reggae, rock, hip hop and R&B. He was greatly influenced as a child by artist such as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, The Isley Brothers or The Temptations.
At the early age of four, Bruno began to perform with his family band, The Love Notes. He was especially known for his impressive impersonations of Elvis Presley.
In 2003, after graduating from the President Theodor Roosevelt High School, at seventeen, he moved to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a music carrier.
In 2004, he signed with Motown Records, but this collaboration did not fructify into something majestic. But this is where he met songwriter and producer Philip Lawrence who also signed with the Motown Records.
In 2006 Lawrence introduced Bruno to his future manager from Atlantic Records, Aaron Bay-Schuck. He signed with Atlantic records only in 2009.
Before beginning his solo carrier, Bruno had great success as a songwriter. He wrote for such artist as Alexandra Burke, Travie McCoy, Adam Levine, Brandy, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida. He also co-wrote the hit single for The Sugababes, Get Sexy.
