About Biffy Clyro
Biffy Clyro are a three-piece band, whose members are Ben Johnston, James Johnston, and Simon Neil. They come from Kilmarnock, and were founded in 1995..
Their first single, 'iname' was released on the record label Babi Yaga in June 1999. Their debut EP, 'thekidswhopoptodaywillrocktomorrow,' which was released on 13 June 1999.
They were signed to Beggar's Banquet records after playing T in the Park's Unsigned Bands stage. They then recorded their debut album, 'The Blackened Sky,' which was released on 11 March 2001. they then went out on tour for the first time, including a support slot with Weezer at Glasgow Barrowlands on March of that year.
In 2003, they recorded their second album, 'The Vertigo of Bliss,' which was released on 16 June of that year. Again, they then toured extensively, and continued to record. In 2004, their third album, 'Infinity Land' was released, along with the single releases 'Glitter and Trauma' and the download only single 'There's No Such Thing as a Jaggy Snake.'
In 2006, Biffy Clyro changed labels, leaving Beggar's Banquet and signing with Warner Bros offshoot 14th Floor. Their fourth album, 'Puzzle' was released in June 2007, and finally achieved chart success, reaching number 2 on the UK albums chart. That year, the band had support slots for Muse, The Who, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Rolling Stones. They then toured with Queens of the Stone Age in 2008.
In July 2008 they released the single 'Mountains' which reached number 5 in the UK singles chart, making it their first top 10 hit.
Their next album, 'Only Revolutions' was recorded in 2009, and released on November the 9th. It has been their biggest success to date, peaking at number 8 in the UK albums chart, and achieving Gold status.
