By the time Alison Krauss was fourteen years old she recorded a song for the first time. In 1985 she signed with Rounder Records which helped her to present more of her fans with great music. Her fist solo album was released under the Rounder label in 1987. Not long after this Alison Krauss was invited to join the band that she can still be heard performing with. This group is today known as Alison Krauss and Union Station or AKUS. Her first album as part of this band was released in 1989.

In addition to her musical talents as part of the Alison Krauss and Union Station she has also performed with other performers like Bard Paisley, Ricky Skaggs, Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, Vince Gill and Rhonda Vincent. She has also sung songs for a number of soundtracks including “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” This song gave Alison Krauss a Grammy award and helped to renew interest in the bluegrass genre of music. For many fans Alison Krauss is a face that is as familiar as their own and her music is an inspiration for the many who hear her songs.
