About Alexandra Burke
Alexandra Burke was born on 25 August 1988 in London and was the winner of the fifth season of the X Factor, a Britain-based reality talent show. She received 58% of the final vote, and was declared the winner in December 2008. Burke's final prize was a £1 million recording contract with Syco Records, a subsidiary of Sony BMG. This included a £150,000 advance payment. Her first single was a cover of Leonard Cohen's classic song "Hallelujah."
She released her first album in Britain, entitled Overcome on 19 October, 2009, with a release date set for 12 March, 2010 in the United States. Critical reception to the album has been mostly positive. Its first single, "Bad Boys," has sold over 600,000 copies in Great Britain.
