About Agnes
Agnes Emilia Carlsson, better known as Agnes, is a Swedish born singer who has made it to the top of her career. She began her ascent in 2005 when she auditioned for Sweden’s version of the ‘Idol’ series. Although she successfully made it through to the semi-finals she was cast out of the finals through public voting. She also missed getting a place in the finals through the ‘Wildcard’ round. The judges who were impressed by Agnes’ strong voice then passed her through to the finals as the Judges Choice contestant.
From there on she managed to stay away from the three bottom spots each week for the duration of the finals, before making it to the grand finale alongside contestant Sebastian Karlsson. She went on to win the second season Swedish Idol with 57% of the votes cast. She also became the first female contestant to win in the Swedish Idol competition. She was only seventeen at the time.
From there Agnes was quickly signed on to Sony BMG and released her debut single which came in at the number one spot on the Swedish charts, a place it held for the next six weeks. This success was quickly followed by her self-titled debut album, in December 2005. Both Agnes’ debut single and album were certified platinum.
Her third single came into the charts at number two, only just missing the number one spot on the Swedish singles chart. This was in September. In October, Agnes released her second album which came in at number one, just like her debut album. Agnes’ second album was released less than a year after she released her debut album. This album too, received platinum certification.
After this, Agnes split with Sony BMG and signed on to Roxy Recordings. With this independent label she released her third album, and also made her way into international waters where she found a loyal following. Currently Agnes is working on her fourth album.
