About Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert is an American singer/songwriter born in 1982, heralding from San Diego, California. On the eighth season of the hit TV show American Idol, he placed runner-up in the competition. He was signed to RCA Records, and released his first album in 2009 entitled For Your Entertainment, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and sold 198,000 copies in its first week.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised in a Jewish family, Lambert began performing at a young age. At the age of ten he was cast as Linus in a production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and spent his teenage years performing in various theater productions around the U.S. He has performed in music theater productions, such as Hair, Grease and Peter Pan in the U.S. and in Europe, and also was the frontman for an underground rock band The Citizen Vein for a short while in the 2000s before returning to acting, including being cast as the understudy for the role of Fiyero in Wicked.
He auditioned for American idol in San Francisco, where he won over the judges with his renditions of Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” During the show’s run, he amazed the judges and the viewers of the show, and in a hard-fought competition, he lost narrowly to Kris Allen. Despite a narrow defeat, Lambert’s popularity remained consistent, and his first album, For Your Entertainment, has gone gold in the U.S. He is also the first openly gay mainstream artist to be signed to a major label in the America.
